Sheffield locals invited to have their say on Fitzwilliam: the next chapter for Mesters’ Village

Sheffield’s Mesters’ Village is about to take another leap forward with Capital&Centric’s Fitzwilliam, and locals are being asked to help shape it.

The social impact developer just dropped new images of Fitzwilliam, which will see the scrappy, derelict site opposite Eyewitness Works transformed into a buzzing new community of 192 homes. Before submitting a planning application later this year, the team wants to hear what Sheffield thinks.

A drop-in event will be held at Eyewitness Works on Thursday 18 September, 4–7pm, where people can check out the plans, ask questions, and tell Capital&Centric what they’d like to see. Feedback can also be shared online up until Friday 3 October 2025.

Two years after Channel 4’s The Big Interiors Battle, filmed at Eyewitness Works, Capital&Centric are writing the next series for neighbourhood, with Fitzwilliam set to be the latest addition to the 10-year masterplan for Mesters’ Village. Think lush courtyard gardens, skyline roof terraces, co-work and lounge spaces for neighbours to hang out, and indie operators spilling out onto Fitzwilliam Street. The plans also feature bold roofscapes animated with local art, cementing the neighbourhood as Sheffield’s creative heart.

Tom Wilmot, Joint Managing Director at Capital&Centric, said:
“We’re taking a patch of weeds and giving it back to Sheffield as somewhere people actually want to be. We’ve got the chance to continue the momentum we’ve started at Eyewitness and continue to curate a proper community, not just apartments. But this is Sheffield’s neighbourhood, so we want locals to tell us what they’d like to see before we put our plans in.”

Capital&Centric are no strangers to Sheffield. Eyewitness Works is already home to a thriving rental community, while plans are also underway to revive the long-abandoned Cannon Brewery across town. Fitzwilliam is the next bold move in reshaping Mesters’ Village into a thriving city quarter.
