Stockport's newest neighbourhood Weir Mill set to open its doors
Capital&Centric is inviting locals down to the launch of Stockport’s new town centre neighbourhood Weir Mill.
Taking place on Saturday 22nd August, 10-3pm, the launch event will give visitors the chance to explore the completed homes, check out the resident amenities and get a feel for life at the landmark riverside neighbourhood in the heart of Stockport.
Locals will be able to stop by for a brew or a sweet treat, then have a wander around what’s set to become Stockport’s hottest place to live.
As the neighbourhood nears completion, residents will start moving in towards the end of August. With 253 homes for rent set across beautifully restored Grade II listed cotton mills and industrial-style new builds, Weir Mill brings a whole new way of living to the heart of the town. From loft-style mill apartments, packed with original character, to sleek new-build homes, there's a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments to choose from.
Just a few minutes' walk from Stockport train station, and nestled under the arches of the viaduct, Weir Mill has been designed around community, with a collection of shared spaces and resident amenities that go far beyond the front door.
Residents will have access to a fully equipped gym and studio, co-working spaces, a mini-cinema, residents' lounge, private dining room and rooftop garden complete with electric BBQs and views across the town.
Alongside the new homes on offer, the neighbourhood is already shaping up to be Stockport's most anticipated destinations, with a growing line-up of independents moving in. Social Osteria, Prologue, Kontrol Pilates and Rita Rays have already called dibs on space at Weir Mill, with more names still to be announced.
Weir Mill is being delivered in partnership with Stockport Council and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. It’s a flagship project in Stockport Council’s £2 billion transformation of the town centre - the largest town centre regeneration in the UK.
The work is being driven by Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC), which is accelerating plans for 8,000 town centre homes for all stages of life by 2040. Stockport MDC is also working with partners to deliver revitalised public spaces, enhanced connectivity, and vital social infrastructure.
