Capital&Centric is coming to Crewe with one question: what do people want to see in their town?

Social impact developer to host no-agenda town centre drop-in at PLATFORM Art Gallery on 31 October

Crewe wants to be the best small town in Europe by 2050, so Capital&Centric is asking what that actually means to the people who live and work there, so that they can help deliver the vision.
‍
On Saturday 31 October, 12-3pm, regeneration specialists, Capital&Centric, will take over PLATFORM Art Gallery on Market Street for a "Shape Your Town" event. It's an open afternoon, offering the opportunity to chat with locals about what they want from the future of their town centre. There's no presentation and no pitch, just a chat over a brew or a beer.

In September’ 25 Cheshire East Council announced they were working with the developer on proposals for the undeveloped part of the Royal Arcade site, Chester Street Car Park and Delamere Street Car Park.

Capital&Centric has form in turning overlooked places into neighbourhoods people are proud of with projects from Gateshead to Plymouth.

Recently, the team has been working with the Manchester School of Architecture to ask placemaking students what they think would make Crewe a better place to live, work and hang out. Their ideas will be on the table at the event.

The afternoon also lines up with the Crewe Creates art slam, taking place just outside PLATFORM. Anyone popping by to see the art can step inside and tell the team what Crewe needs.

Tim Heatley, co-founder of Capital&Centric, said:

"Everyone expects a developer to turn up with all the answers. But honestly, the most useful thing anyone can tell us on the 31st is the truth about what they want or don’t want. A good dose of honesty tells us more than a polite nod ever will. We are holding this event to find out what the people of Crewe truly think about our plans, with no filter. And if nothing else come down for a beer, a brew some cake or some pizza on us”
