Cannon Brewery gets the green light as Sheffield's next neighbourhood moves closer
Capital&Centric has secured planning approval for Cannon Brewery, bringing the transformation of one of Sheffield's most iconic industrial sites another step closer.
The green light paves the way for the regeneration of the 4.2-acre former Stones Brewery in Neepsend, turning the long-vacant landmark into a buzzing new neighbourhood packed with homes, creative workspaces, bars, cafés and loads of green community space.
The first phase will deliver 240 design-led apartments, with the wider masterplan creating around 500 new homes. Alongside them will be around 15,000 sq ft of commercial space for independent businesses, makers and creatives, helping grow Neepsend's thriving community while keeping its industrial character front and centre.
Residents will have access to Capital&Centric's signature amenities, including a fully kitted-out gym, co-working spaces, residents' lounge and mini cini, creating a neighbourhood that's about far more than just somewhere to live.
The plans also put people first, with a new urban park, generous public spaces and pedestrian routes opening up a site that's been closed off for more than two decades. The development will celebrate Cannon Brewery's rich heritage while writing a bold new chapter for one of Sheffield's most recognisable landmarks.
The approval follows the opening of Sheffield's first indoor padel club on the site, with Club de Padel already bringing new life to Cannon Brewery ahead of the wider regeneration.
