First-look at Stockport’s newest indie hang-out spot at Weir Mill

Social impact developer Capital&Centric, custodians of the historic Weir Mill, have released new images of the town’s newest hot spot for local foodies and revellers.

Set against the backdrop of the town’s iconic railway viaduct, the new public square at Weir Mill, dubbed Weaver’s Square, will soon become the go-to venue for live music, street food pop-ups, parties and al fresco eats under the arches.

The new neighbourhood will feature tonnes of independent food and drink options, with 10 new bars, restaurants and cafés spilling outside and bringing the social spaces to life.

Weaver’s Square will be the beating heart of the community, featuring four characterful outdoor spaces totalling a whopping 65,000 sq ft. The new plant-packed outdoor areas will stitch into the fabric of Stockport town centre and bring people together day and night.

The spaces will bring a mix of vibes as they include a riverside terrace which will become an evening sun trap perfect for drinks with water views. A central courtyard will provide a lush, green oasis tucked away from the town bustle, whilst the sunken courtyard will be an intimate, hidden nook with tonnes of personality.

While the Grade-II listed former mill is being carefully restored for residents, the new public square will create opportunities for independent businesses to thrive and for people from across the borough to come and enjoy our buzzing town centre. It’s incredibly exciting to see how our riverside will soon be opened up into an inviting outdoor space where communities can come together over great food, live music, and creative events from day to night.”
