Capital&Centric to Lead Transformational Regeneration Across Huntingdon, St Ives and St Neots
Capital&Centric has been selected as the preferred development partner for game-changing regeneration projects in Huntingdon, St Ives and St Neots, as cabinet approval is sought to kickstart delivery of bold, residential-led schemes in these historic market towns.
The move is a major milestone for West Cambridgeshire and a signal of intent to create communities that work for everyone – with hundreds of new rental homes on the cards, alongside buzzing spaces for independent businesses and lush green spaces. It’s about making these towns places people want to stay in, not leave.
The plans will see tired sites in Huntingdon, St Ives and St Neots completely transformed. The focus is on rental homes that meet the needs of local people – from young professionals to families and older residents who want to stay put rather than move away. Expect a mix of rooftop terraces, leafy courtyards, independent cafes and co-working spaces – everything that makes a neighbourhood feel alive.
Martin Crews, Development Director at Capital&Centric, said:
“These towns have amazing potential, but like so many places, there’s a need for high-quality homes that cater to everyone, not just a few. We’re all about creating neighbourhoods that mix character and creativity with homes that feel like they belong – not the bland, corporate stuff. We can’t wait to get stuck in and work with the local communities to bring these visions to life.”
Executive Leader, Chair of the Cabinet and Executive Councillor for Place, Cllr Sarah Conboy, said:
“This is a major moment for Huntingdon, St Ives and St Neots. With Capital&Centric, we’ve secured a partner who shares our ambition to create thriving, inclusive places rooted in community. This regeneration is about more than new homes, it’s about shaping vibrant towns where people want to stay, work and build their futures.”
These new developments will be shaped with input from the community, ensuring they respect the towns’ heritage while pushing them confidently into the future.
The cabinet is expected to sign off on the appointment shortly, paving the way for Capital&Centric to start drawing up detailed plans and getting shovels in the ground.
Currently investing £3 million a week across eight live construction sites, Capital&Centric is driving regeneration in towns and cities nationwide, from Wolverhampton to Gateshead and Sheffield, where its Eyewitness Works featured on Channel 4’s The Big Interiors Battle. The developer recently announced its biggest project to date: creating a whole new town centre alongside 2,000 homes in Cambridgeshire’s Northstowe.
