A ceramics icon being brought back to life into a buzzing new neighbourhood of homes, food, creativity and public spaces.

A historic ceramics powerhouse reimagined as a brand new neighbourhood.

Spode Works stretches across around 10 acres of historic buildings, kilns and workshops right in the heart of Stoke town centre, spanning multiple Grade II-listed structures. For more than two centuries it’s been a powerhouse of the UK’s ceramics industry, helping put Stoke-on-Trent firmly on the global map. Now we’re giving this iconic site a fresh chapter, breathing new life into its heritage while celebrating everything that made it special.

The plans will see the historic works transformed into a brand new neighbourhood of homes, alongside bars, restaurants and cafés, all set around vibrant public spaces. There’ll also be exhibition space and creative workspaces too, keeping that creative energy at the heart of Spode Works.

THE PLANS

THE PLANS.

Phase one focuses on bringing the public back to the heart of Spode, with a new leisure use to site for the first time, with plans which also include the restoration of some of the historic buildings on site.

We are also opening a new public walking route through the China Halls, which will connect the heart of site to the Kingsway, and with Gordon House demolition proposed, the full façade of the Historic China Hall will be visible, fronted by the expansion of the Spode Rose Garden.
